Northbourne Farm

We are a small farm on Vashon Island growing food according to organic principles.

1.5 cultivated acres of vegetables, fruit, eggs and u-pick flowers, Northbourne Farm started in the fall of 2016 with the purchase of Hogsback Farm from Amy and Joseph Bogaard, long-time farmers on Vashon Island. We are deeply grateful to everyone who put care and hard work into making Hogsback Farm what it was, and excited to build on that history.

We grow a diverse set of crops including salad greens, head lettuce, carrots, beets, radishes, tomatoes, onions, garlic, leeks, potatoes, kale, chard, herbs, orchard fruit, berries, and eggs.

The Crew

Peter, Owen, Emma, linda & Jay

Peter and Emma started Northbourne Farm when they moved to Vashon Island in 2016. Prior to the move Peter farmed at Lake Divide and River Run where he learned to grow beautiful produce and work horses. The farm was started with two suffolks, Roy and Jay. Suffolks are commonly described as the only draft horse breed developed and selected exclusively for farm work. We lost Roy in 2021, but we were lucky enough to get to add Linda, a fine Belgian mare to the mix. Owen arrived in August of 2019 and keeps everyone on their toes.

 Sean Murray & Kendra Johnson

Howdy! I’m Kendra and I’m Sean and we’re super stoked to get to call Vashon Island home and work alongside the amazing people and animals at Northbourne Farm. We met while working at a fine dining restaurant on Orcas Island in 2018 and soon made the leap to farming together on the island. Food is our passion whether we’re growing it, cooking it, or eating it. We have cultivated our lives to revolve around good food and good people. We look forward to meeting you all as you stop by the farmstand to pick up some delicious produce and bodacious bouquets!
